After much preparation and planning we will finally set off on September 8th.
The first leg is an early morning flight from Heathrow to Istanbul. We'll arrive at midday and then go to collect our tickets for the train journey to Iran.
The train leaves just before midnight the same day so we'll have a few hours to rush around seeing as much of Istanbul as we can.
I suspect this won't be an awful lot.
And, of course, spending the next couple of days on the train means that there won't be any chance for internet access until we reach Tabriz in northwest Iran.
